Three Oaks Parkway extension opens Nov. 2: a third route between Naples and Fort Myers

    The short version

Lee County opens the new stretch of Three Oaks Parkway on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026. The extension connects Three Oaks across the Fiddlesticks Canal to Daniels Parkway. Along with I-75 and US 41, that gives drivers a third direct route between Naples and Fort Myers (WGCU, Oct. 29, 2026; WINK, Oct. 19, 2026).

    The numbers first

    • Two phases, about $66.5 million combined. Phase One cost about $26.8 million and was built by Wright Construction Group. Phase Two cost about $39.7 million and was built by ECH Construction (WGCU).
    • Where it runs. Phase One goes from north of Alico Road to the Fiddlesticks Canal, near Indian Paint Lane. Phase Two goes from Indian Paint Lane to Daniels Parkway (WGCU).
    • What is on the road. Four divided lanes, two 11 foot travel lanes in each direction, 5 foot bicycle lanes, and sidewalks on both sides (WINK).
    • Ahead of schedule. The original contract called for completion in mid-2028. The road opens Nov. 2, and the county expects the full project to wrap up in early 2027 (WGCU; WINK).
    • A new roundabout at Fiddlesticks Boulevard and Old Fiddlesticks Boulevard gives access to the nearby Publix shopping center (WINK).

So what does this mean if you are buying?

Lee County officials say the project completes the Three Oaks Parkway corridor, an alternative north-south route to I-75 through the Village of Estero, Bonita Springs and into Collier County (WINK).

If you are looking at homes in Estero or south Fort Myers, your daily drive north toward Daniels Parkway has another option besides I-75 and US 41. That is a new choice, not a promise of a shorter commute. Your drive still depends on where your neighborhood exits and when you leave.

We broke down Estero's busiest roads, including Three Oaks, in our post on how bad traffic is in Estero, FL. My advice stays the same: drive it at rush hour before you write an offer. Now there is one more route to test.

    Construction is not totally done

The road opens after the ribbon cutting, but work continues in the area (WGCU; WINK).

    • The Three Oaks Parkway and Palomino Lane intersection at Daniels Parkway still needs restriping, and the county plans future improvements there (WINK; WGCU).
    • Daniels Parkway has been widened to eight lanes between Danport Boulevard and Appaloosa Lane/Powers Court. All eight lanes will not open until final paving and striping are done (WINK; WGCU).

    The ribbon cutting

Lee County holds the ceremony at 10 a.m. on Mon., Nov. 2, at Three Oaks Parkway and Fiddlesticks Boulevard, with remarks from Lee County commissioners and other officials (WGCU). Event parking is on the southbound side of Three Oaks Parkway, south of the signal at Fiddlesticks Boulevard (WGCU). Follow the event and parking signs, and if you live nearby, the county encourages you to walk or bike over (WINK). Can't make it? The county will livestream it on its YouTube and Facebook pages (WGCU; WINK).
